Last Thoughts

Did anybody else try to determine the outcome of this book as they were reading it? For instance, I thought there might be a crazy twist where they'd find out that Chris Goddard did in fact have inappropriate relations with Faith and she was telling the truth all along. Or Lydia would end up jumping Chris' bones in his office. Anybody?

Any other last thoughts on this book before we move on?

  1. I was impressed with how they handled the whole Accusation thing. I'd read a book about memory that had a very long, detailed section about the creation of "false memories" caused by "leading questions" and was pleased that they followed good protocol in the story.

I read the author's essay about "popular girls" (that follows the main text) and it raised, for me, more questions than it answered. I'd like to read something similar by someone who'd studied such questions systematically.

And, I have oodles more to say about conformity and the common cruelties of childhood & adolescence... but I feel tired. It's one of those topics that I've thought about too much, to express concisely. And I have in mind various quotes I want to look up, so... Maybe I'll save it for later.
